BEACHES AND CLIFFS
You can enjoy the incredible coves and beaches of Nerja within a coastal landscape full of contrasts, with landscapes as beautiful as Playazo, with long stretches of beach in a natural setting at the foot of the mouth of the Rio Chillar, famous for its excursions and hiking trails.
Its most central beaches such as La Torrecilla or the colorful Burriana, without a doubt the best known and most loved beach in Nerja. A popular place since the television series “Verano Azul” made it fashionable throughout Spain.
Just after Maro you can find the natural reserve of the Cliffs of Maro, a wonder of nature in southern Spain.
BALCON DE EUROPA
The Balcon de Europa is undoubtedly the most emblematic place in Nerja. An icon that nobody wants to miss when visiting this beautiful town in Malaga.
Located on the cliff that separates the beaches of Salon and Calahonda, it has the best views of the entire city. It has become, without a doubt, the most visited and photographed monument in the municipality. You can reach it in a few minutes, from our Antonio Millón pedestrian street. There you can visit various places of interest such as the Church of El Salvador, Plaza de España and The Museum of Nerja, where you can buy tickets to the famous Caves of Nerja.
The Nerja Municipal Tourist Office is located on the ground floor of the Town Hall next to the Paseo Balcon de Europa, where the public is served in Spanish, English, French and German.
The Nerja Cave, called “Natural Cathedral of the Costa del Sol”, is located in Maro, 5 km far from our location in the direction to Almeria. To get there, you have the possibility to go by the old national 340 road or by the A7 highway. You can also opt for the bus or for a fun round trip on the tourist train called «Cave-Train».
The most attractive thing is the impressive column located in the Cataclysm Room with a height of 60 meters and a diameter of 18 meters.
Nerja Cave is not only famous for its archaeological sites and its stone formation, but also for its International Festival of Music and Dance, which is repeated every year during the month of July.
